Artist Statement:

Ali Taylor works as both a film director and artist. Her most recent images are inspired by an imagined world of burlesque tarts, stalking a dark and erratic city. Her characters are sensual, powerful and usually female. As an artist linked with the growing London burlesque movement her exhibitions are normally accompanied dressing up and performance. Inspirations include Gustav Dore, Egon Schiele, bottoms and people who make, wear or appreciate ladies knickers. She has been commissioned as a film maker by Channel 4 and Rough Trade Records and has painted for Vivienne Westwood.
