Artist Statement

My work consists of individual one-off pieces informed by key themes such as memory, permanence, existence and history. I am concerned with seeing something unusual in the mundane (an ornament embedded in a book) and my pieces often give rise to the feeling of uncanniness by using the familiar (a book, a bottles, a chair) in unexpected ways (to conceal objects or give an illusion that they are present when they do not exist), in places where a person may glance and see something unexpected in an ordinary environment.
