Artist Statement

My Project Breathe
With experience of working formerly as a landscaper gardener and also a chef, I have come to enjoy working with the materials and tools that I am presented with, so wholly appreciate the diversity of organic life and synthetic resources that surround us – with which I put to good use in the creation of my imagery.

When composing images I aim to encompass the entirety of my subject area, at the same time highlight individual components within the frame thus generating awareness to aspects such as vivid contrasts in colour, extreme transitions in depth, and acute variation in texture.

Where possible I aim to work with as few tools as is necessary, and look to reduce post-production techniques i.e. digital manipulation, to a bare minimum, hence all my work is shot on transparency film from which I make high resolution scans.

I am an energetic individual with many passions. My obsession with photography encourages me to travel. My desire to travel prompts me to learn of foreign cultures.The combination of interests I pursue influence my outlook on life and the beliefs I have, which in turn forms the basis of my working ethics essentially shaping the overall style of work that I create.
