Artist Statement: I have recently graduated from a BA Hons degree in 3D Design/Designer Maker. Through the duration of the course I have established an interest in furniture design. I have developed a definitive style, which has favoured curvaceous flowing forms and shiny, reflective surfaces. I have also enjoyed exploring the webbing effects that stretchy fabrics form when pulled over a framework. I have involved this webbing effect in several of my projects, sometimes using formed plastic to re-create the same effect. This has provided a webbed ridged form, proving useful when working with the design of furniture and giving the required curvaceous aesthetic. An attribute of my work is the attention given to the composition of forms and lines within an object, making each component relate to each other aesthetically. Computer modelling and animating, forms a substantial part of my design process, providing a preview of the designed object set within its intended context. I have also collaborated with outside companies for the manufacture of certain components within several projects, using computer software such as AutoCAD and Illustrator. Clean quality finishing is a trademark of my work.
