Statement
Born in Newbury,
Berkshire in 1964 I spent almost all my early life in Essex and Kent,
most of my childhood being spent on livestock farms.
In 1986 I completed a degree in English Studies at Sunderland University
which developed my lifelong love of Shakespeare.
I have lived in Kent since 1990 and prior to that lived in London and
Cambridge.
At present I paint while maintaining a part time job in Marketing in Maidstone,
Kent.
My style is largely expressionist in style and I am heavily influenced
by the Fauves, German Expressionists and early Renaissance painters. In
my work at present I am exploring a series of paintings based on the absurd
and surreal, which followed a visit to Prater Park in Vienna in the Winter,
an experience which was both sinister and comic.
