Buena Memoria
2 Apr - 15 May 04
Our
forthcoming exhibition by Argentinian photographer Marcelo Brodsky, is
internationally renowned for his photographic and video work, alongside
his politically poignant public interventions.
The
exhibition, which opens to the public on 2 April, will be the first presentation
of his work in the UK.
Buena Memoria is based on a graduation photograph of the class of 1967
at the Colegio Nacional in Buenos Aires. The picture is the point of departure
for a multi-faceted biographical project including photographs from family
albums, videos, personal and literary notes. With this reconstruction
of his friends´ biographies and that of his brother Fernando, who
remains missing to this day, Marcelo Brodsky has created an impressive,
subtle and deeply touching memorial to the thousands of people who were
killed or went missing during what has now become known as Argentina's
Dirty War.
On Sunday 4 April, we are hosting a special event at The OTHER Cinema
where Marcelo will give a presentation of his video works followed by
a panel discussion chaired by the curator Gabriela Salgado.
