Galley One & Gallery Two
National Museum of Photography, Film & Television, Bradford 10 June - 18 September 2005 Since the early 1990s, the association between fashion design and art has become increasingly linked. Fashination investigates this dynamic and complex relationship with an exhibition of works by designers, artists and photographers that can function in both art and fashion contexts. Art is one of the many sources of inspiration for fashion, with designers creating their own artistic statements around their clothes and catwalks shows, and artists working with designers to shift the boundaries of traditional fashion photography and film. Fashination combines the photography of Terry Richardson (for Sisley), Steven Meisel (for Versace) and Philip-Lorca diCorcia, with recent creations by Alexander McQueen, Viktor & Rolf and Bless, alongside film and performance installations by Turner Prize nominated Yinka Shonibare, Vanessa Beecroft (for Vogue Italia), Lars Nilsson and many others. |
