Mick Dean’s latest exhibition of paintings reflect his particular concern with erosion; not simply the quiet force of nature and it’s effects along the banks of the river Thames, but as a Londoner of over fifty years, also the way his childhood memories from this area have altered with the passing of time. Though only graduating from City and Guilds with a first class degree in painting in 2003, Mick’s previous 37 years as a professional photographer specialising in still life have had an obvious impact upon his work with the brush: His seasoned eye for the delicate play of tone and contrast combined with his careful and contemplative study of his subject matter has ensured a stunning series of works. Recent exhibitions of Mick’s work include the Hutson Gallery in London’s West End and the Standpoint Gallery, London N1 as well as the New British Art Gallery at the London Art Fair in Jan. 2004. Mick is also distinguished by a commission from the Lord Mayor of London’s Office. Exhibiting alongside Mick at the gallery are paintings of sea and skyscapes by David John Senior. Open to the
public from 2nd - 31st July 2004. Weds-Fri 12:00-18:00, Sat 11:00-17:00 |
