A series of drop-in days this summer offers families an innovative and
sensory programme of workshops. Families are invited to explore their
senses through interactive and creative activities, inspired by areas
of the V&A's permanent collection.

Lunchroom
Let's make music - create your own musical instrument with this vibrant
workshop, which takes inspiration from the Museum's collection of musical
instruments and allows you to step back in time and discover an array
of historical sounds.

Photography, Room 38a
Be inspired by Victorian photography and moving images. Challenge your
perception of sight by creating an instrument of optical illusion in this
art workshop.
TOUCH CHALLENGE

Enjoy this stimulating workshop where you will have the opportunity to
handle objects. Through touch and memory alone you will then design and
decorate your own 2D version of a V&A object.
TIME FOR
TEA

Be inspired by the V&A's collections and design and make your own
piece of tableware for an imaginary feast. Observe as our experts perform
a traditional Chinese tea demonstration. Tea demonstrations will take
place at weekends only, 12.00 - 13.00 and 15.00 - 16.00.

Come along to this creative workshop where you will take inspiration from
the V&A's Medieval Treasury gallery and create your own clay sculpture
inspired by historical incense burners. Find out more about the scents
of medieval England.

THE TREE
OF LIFE
26 - 30 July
Carnival costume-making and mini parade. Working with Carnival Costume
artist Ray Mahabir, young people aged between 6 and 13 will be able to
create their own carnival costumes, join in music making and lead a procession
through the Museum wearing the costumes they have made. The theme of the
event is The Tree of Life, gaining inspiration for the costumes from the
designs and images from the Museum's collections. Each group of up to
30 young people can booked on to either a morning or afternoon session:
Morning sessions:10.30 - 12.10 Workshop, 12.10 - 12.30 Parade
Afternoon sessions:13.30 - 15.10 Workshop, 15.10 - 15.30 Parade
Costs:
£20 for a group of 1-12 young people
£30 for a group of 12-20 young people
£40 for a group of 20-30 young people
ACTIVITY
PACKS
2 - 6 & 16 - 20 August
A chance for your group to explore 400 years of history through gallery
activities.
The activity packs will cater for up 30 young people between 7 and12,
and for all learning styles. It has been designed in such a way that groups
need to be split into smaller groups of up to six young people with each
small group accompanied by an adult helper from the playscheme. Each helper
will have their own activity pack with activities, worksheets and guide
for their group. Activities include designing, drawing and being a reporter.
Morning session: 11.00 -13.00, Afternoon session 13.30 - 15.30
