Artist Statement: I am a visual
and performance artist originally from Italy, living and working in London
for the last thirteen years. I work in a multi-disciplinary way including
the use of video, drawing and performance/live art. I am interested in
the ideas around ‘place’, the experience of theatricality
in relation to physical vulnerability and becoming and the link between
visual art and movement. Movement has always been a constant point in
my work, an aspect that has grown with time, since my art education. I
explore this both solo and collaboratively, as well as devising and facilitating
workshops on visual art and performance. I have trained extensively in
both areas. I have also trained in Butoh, in Italy, England and Japan,
with Ko Murobushi, Tatsura Kan, Akiko Motofuji, Tadashi Endo, amongst
others. I have shown, researched and performed work both nationally and
internationally; as well as in England and Italy, in Singapore, Canada,
India, Finland, Japan and Croatia. One of my recent project, showed in
Italy (summer 2003), was ‘Stalks’ a two channels video installation,
on tobacco cultivation and agricultural performance,. Last September in
Momjan (Croatia), I performed ‘Outskirt’ with a video installation,
a work about geographical and cultural boundaries, in which myself and
a collaborator involved the people from the village. Last summer I performed
a solo improvisation on the Tiber embankment in Rome, in the context of
a performance-poetry event. Last October and November, over two weeks
I started developing a live art project about tinnitus, in collaboration
with electroacustic composer Roger Goula from Barcelona and performed
it at Beaconsfield’s, in London. |
