Artists Statement For me painting is distortion and filtering, taking reality and turning it into something more personal. I have a strong urge to paint, it is a release and a therapy. My landscapes
are often stormy, rainy and indistinct. I use hints of light to indicate
hope in otherwise grey and moody canvases. Many of my
paintings evolve from photographs and the process often starts when I
frame the image with the camera. I'm particularly fond of cheap digital
cameras as these often produce poor quality, low-resolution images. In
formal photography this lack of detail and distortion would be disappointing.
I find that it helps me add my own levels of abstraction to the final
painted image. For sales, commissions and to send comments to the artist.
