Artists Statement

I work within both a 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional structure using the canvas as a way to add objects of desire. The subject often depicts what is considered beautiful as well as vulgar from both a high and low social perspective. Works are derived initially from existing paintings and written works. Their adaptation comes to light through the medium of paint by translating them into the modern day, identifying current iconography and status with a huge dollop of humour. These paintings are then in turn re - invented once more into large scale textile pieces using needlepoint tapestry, collage, electronics and sound.
