Artist Statement

Coming from a creative family I have always been surrounded by art in one form or another.

From an early age I have been encouraged to express myself creatively by experimenting with materials, colour, texture and processes. Because of this I have learnt to be very observant of the world around me and tend to view life as nuances of composition, shape and tone; picking out details that usually seem to go unnoticed by others.

I love all kinds of art, yet I seem to be drawn to the more figurative.
I’ve always been fascinated by people, with the human form and all its wonderful attributes like expression, posture, gender and race.
The varieties of different cultures in our world are so exciting and beautiful. Across our globe it is the mixture of colour and pattern, symbols and adornments and the use of materials and crafts that define our identities and individualises a culture.

I love to paint images that conjure up stories and intrigues the viewer into thinking about what is going on beyond the canvas.
Exploring the fantasy and capturing the essence of life and culture is my passion.
