Artist Statement:

My creative identity adapts and evolves with experience and the fluid transformation from project to project. It is fundamental to my creative potential not to limit myself to a particular mode.
At present painting is my most productive medium, using stencilling techniques, spray-cans and light reflective materials. In combination with my fine art background, I feel a strong connection with street and graphic art. I also use baroque influences alongside filmic sources as part of my visual language, in order to create atmospheric and intense work that is highly contemporary and challenging.

Statement for ‘Coded’ images

These works are part of a series entitled ‘Hollywood Combat’. Using Hollywood war-movie source material, the work reflects our perpetual captivation with the Hollywood war-movie aesthetic.
The operates under an aesthetic context and the coded titles underline that they are objects designed for consumption. The work, in its critique of horror and violence as an aesthetic object, retains a political undertone present in the use of the ‘Iconic’ stencil.
