Artist
Statement:
I was born near Stuttgart, in Germany, but moved at an early age to Paris,
where I spent the next 15 years. Now I am based in London, for the past
four years, where I have just completed a Degree in Graphic Design at
Central St.Martins University.
During this time I majored in Illustration, and have participated in various
group exhibitions, for instance the 'work in progress' show at the Deluxe
gallery in Hoxton. I have also recently been involved in commissioned
work for Firetrap, designing imagery for prints on t-shirts and other
fabric.
My work is mainly inspired by old advertising imagery, naive drawings
and textile design. I like working with found images and creating a new
context by combining them with my own drawings, type and prints. Computers
are merely a tool to finish my artwork as I mostly work with traditional
methods such as screen printing and drawing. I enjoy the diversity of
different briefs, being challenged conceptually and the freedom within
projects to express a wide range of ideas and themes, from commercial
and sociopolitical ideas to more personal responses
My ambitions for the future include completing a master’s degree,
working in editorial illustration, and being more involved in designing
imagery for fashion prints.
