Artist's
statement:
The greatest taboo of Western civilization is the question of all questions:
what is the meaning of life?
By and large, we live our lives blissfully ignorant of our common fate,
and, perhaps as a consequence, the generation to which many of us - myself
included - belong has developed an immortality complex. We are all aware
of death, but don't really truly understand it. What we don't understand,
we fear; what we fear, we run away from. Thus, we live our lives as though
we were immortal: we fight, we consume, we abuse each other and rape the
planet, and this is a mentality that has cost us our collective soul and
all but extinguished the flame of our spirit.
Despite
all this, I am optimistic. I have learnt to accept my fate, my appointment
with infinity.
