Statement:
The theme of the submission is ‘fickle fashion’. It attempts
to capture the drama associated to the capricious nature of the fashion
world by exploring the relationship between the subject, their clothes
and their surrounds. For the project I used simplicity as the basis and
therefore excluded the conventional use of stylists and make-up, which
ties in with my feelings relating to fashion at a particular point in
time.
I have considered the concept from numerous points of view and have concluded
that in its simplest form fashion is meant to be an expression of self,
yet is merely a parody for how we would like to be perceived. Escapism!
The irony of the merry theatrics and melancholy self-degradation that
arises from the fashion slavery are depicted through these pictures.
