Artist
Statement:
Having been a practising artist for nearly ten years I
have finally realised my strength, ideas. My brain works in concepts rather
than as a skilled craftsperson but instead of working within advertising
or a brainstorming agency I decided to indulge myself and create artwork.
My work reflects my current preoccupations. Sometimes the piece demands
complicated new technology but often it will just prompt me to learn a
new practical skill. I have recently completed a series of etchings illustrating
the peace marches in London against the war on terror and our attack on
Iraq. I love to with work sound and have completed a series relating to
London transport systems as well as spoof country and western songs which
related to the identity of objects. I really don’t have a preferred
medium nowdays, but I do try to tailor my work to physically fit into
people homes or places as I found it demoralising to keep making exciting
work which is either stored away or takes six months to get funding for.
