Artist Statement My work I started doing at University was high art on disposable material. I used architectural spaces as source of inspiration. I did charcoal drawing of our art department( which is the oldest building in Stellenbosch, SA). These drawings were done on boxes about 3m x 2m. I support easel painting, and believe in the modernist theories which puts emphasis on the formal elements in painting. After graduating, I continued painting and drawing but incorporated resin. I got caught up in a process of making resin drawing paintings. Instead of using various intensities of colour and solidity of surfaces to create pictorial spaces, I use resin. I basically use layering to add to the three dimensionality of the painting. The first paintings were done in my third year, the architectural ones, of my final year, and the resin ones are the resent ones. Because I live in London at the moment, I was thinking of using the city spaces and architectural spaces as source of inspiration for my next project. I have had a couple of exhibitions in the past three years, and my first solo exhibit went really well. I sold 90 percent of the work. It encouraged me al lot. The photos don't justify the paintings, hope you can get an idea what it looks like. For sales, commissions and to send comments to the artist.
