Artist Statement:
I was born in Buckinghamshire on the 7-4-1975 and lived
there until I moved away to university. In 1993 I studied Graphic Design
at Dunstable College and decided that illustration was my true inspiration,
so I applied for a HND in Technical & Informational Illustration at
Anglia University. The course was a technical challenge to me and I felt
it was essential to learn all the laws of perspective and the manipulation
of mixed mediums. These skills have been essential in order to accurately
create the images that were drifting around in my subconscious. After
completing the course with distinctions my confidence and work had evolved
to a high level, so I decided to setup as a freelance Illustrator/Designer
in 1995. I produced a large range of commercial propaganda ranging from
Coffee packaging to alternative cards for 'Hallmark' and paintings for
'Buckingham Fine Art'. This experience was necessary for me as I learnt
about the negative side of commercial art, which inspired me to focus
on developing my own concepts without any time frame or restrictive brief.
From 1996 to the present, I have been creating different
works of art in various mediums and exploring digital manipulation by
evolving the tangents, to arrive at bizarre concepts that I find interesting
as well as visually stimulating.
