Artist Statement:

Melanie was born in Hull, East Yorkshire in 1978 and graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2002 with a degree in Contemporary Arts.

Melanie has been working as a professional artist since the completion of her degree and produces original works and prints to complement a variety of interiors.

Throughout her professional practice Melanie has undertaken commissions for textile design, greeting card publication, book illustration and business workspaces.

Melanie currently exhibits her original artworks throughout a number of outlets.

Her work takes on many forms and ranges from original artworks to prints and textiles. The aim of the work is to create contemporary art and make it accessible to a wide audience. Prices range from £50 - £500.

Inspiration is drawn from a love of colour, form and texture and the relationship that these have on each other to form a whole.

The work focuses on the juxtaposition of form and colour and is often made less abstract and more personal through the inclusion of elements collaged and layered throughout the work.

Working directly onto the surface Melanie allows the paint to dictate the direction of the finished piece.
