Artist Statement:
I handbuild pots by a variety of techniques - pinching, coils, slabs, and fire them at earthenware temperatures. I decorate the outsides with iron oxide, and refire, which fixes the decoration. Some pots are glazed on the inside and will therefore hold water, others are unglazed and best regarded as not suitable for holding liquids. The outsides of the pots I polish with a linseed oil based polish. This produces a soft sheen which is water resistant. These pots have a resemblance to South American pots, but are not copies.There are no gods or exotic animals, just abstract designs.
