Artist Statement:

‘You can become rich without having any talent ( via a rollover jackpot). You can become famous without having any talent ( by abasing yourself on some TV nerdothon)’ Martin Amis

In a post-religious , post -political, post scientific society, celebrity offers life to all of us who are not gifted with a natural talent. Victoria Beckham can’t sing, can’t dance or write music, yet she is one of this countries leading celebrities. She adorns countless magazines and her opinion is sought on numerous chat shows. The Beckhams have become icons for this generation, re-shaping popular culture which redirects our sense of self-image.

Peter’s work has been to celebrate the celebrity status and question it’s hold on the individual. Celebrities constantly require media attention this ensures that as long as you are remembered even after your death, you will always be alive.
