Artist's Statement: These
photographs have been selected from three different projects. The series
of images titled 'Fire-Works' reflect the spontaneous nature of exploding
light. Through the developing of a detailed technique I successfully used
fireworks to create a set of six prints. Each print posses individual
markings, these marking represent the irreproducible element of chance,
which subsequently acts as a record of a specific moment in time. The following sequence of images shows a project that I created which worked with ideas of voyeurism within photography, and the idea of obsession. I titled the project 'Even an imaginary love is better than no love at all' I made the subject of the images slightly out of focus, this was intended to symbolise the emotional distance between the voyeur and the 'watched'. The final series of images was taken during the summer whilst I was travelling in Norway. During my visit I travelled around a large majority of the country. The constantly recurring feature was the long, and dark tunnels. Every time I entered the tunnels I experienced a sublime feeling. I was anxious due to the lack of light and tremendous roaring winds, but at the same time, energised by the tunnels uniqueness and powerful aura. My work is mainly pictorial based. I have the opinion that if the images work visually, or have a valid meaning, that there being created is justified.
