Artists Statement:
This selection of paintings shows my development as a person and as a painter over a year.
These paintings focus on insecurity, perception of self and alter ego’s - personal feelings, memories and thoughts are the themes for my work. They are all figurative pictures, of which some are self-portraits. Each picture is unique, just as each personality represented is completely different.
I want elements of my paintings to represent the varying degrees of clutter and emotional baggage that every person carries around with them.
Uncomfortable, unpredictable, blurry, confusing, constricting, nervous, chaotic, fake.
Calm, composed, liberated, tidy, rational, empty, genuine.
