Artist Statement

A pretense for the series of paintings to come into existence was to catch a mindscape of certain places I’ve developed a relation with. An eternal obsession to capture the essence of space in two dimensions has led me to introduction of individual perspective which allowed to develop a language of loosely topographic architectural characteristics.

London to me is a living, breathing tissue being collectively dreamt by some twelve million people of all kinds and nationalities and has influenced my work as such notably.
Remembering that we all are cosmic beings, a thing not often realized living in a City’s business rhythm, I placed the “drama” of the series mostly in the nighttime. The light and color originate from the “inside” of the facades and streets that become “faces” of the cities. Removing human figure out of sight the spectator remains free to choose to be on either side of the “stage”.
